[edit] General
- Name: Aubrey Ringland, aka Aubs (on occasion)
- Age/Birthdate: 24. Born April 18th, 1984.
- Species: Human
- Type: Aubrey's human, but comes from an AU Earth in which there are four recognized sexes: female, male, intersex, asex. Xe's asex, which makes xem an androgyne. (Pronouns would be xe, xem, xes.) Since xe crashed through the Rift, xe's been gifted with a psychic connection to xes suddenly-sentient vehicle, the Skid. It behaves like a lonely, clingy small child and frequently gives xem headaches.

[edit] Appearance
At first glance, Aubrey looks like a short (5'4" to be exact), wiry little guy, though xe'll vehemently protest if anyone calls xem a fellow. Xe tends toward jeans that are too big for xem, work boots, and t-shirts, though xe has been forced occasionally to wear a suit. But if you catch xem in a tanktop, or on the rare occasion xe wears tight jeans (or even jeans that actually fit), it's obvious that xe's got some sort of a figure. Not exactly female, but definitely more than any normal guy should have. (Xe's also missing an adam's apple, but not a lot of people pick up on that, and xes voice is higher, boyish. And, well, xe en't got no bits. At all. Nothing reproductive whatsoever. But, y'know, not a lot of people see that.) Xes dark brown hair is shaggy, rarely cut or even brushed, and when it is cut, it's usually Aubrey that does it. Aubrey showers every day, but always manages to be dirty, face or clothing (or both) smeared with dirt or oil or dust. Xe looks a bit younger than 24 and is regularly carded at bars (well, when xe gets the chance to go to them, that is), which rather annoys xem.
[edit] Personality
Aubrey's a genial hermit. Online xe's very talkative and outgoing, but get xem in a room with people and xe becomes the most awkward thing on earth, being incredibly bad at human interaction. Xes trapped-animal response in a social situation is to grin incessantly and awkwardly at someone until they get unnerved and go away. Overall, xe prefers the screen to face-to-face, but still gets lonely every now and then and definitely isn't opposed to having one or two people around occasionally. As long as xe gets frequent breaks from people, xe generally does alright, and loves hanging out with people on a one-on-one basis, just goofing off or playing videogames or the like. Xe'll do xes best to make friends with or at least be liked by just about anyone xe meets, unless they really rub xem the wrong way right off the bat (by, say, ordering xem around). Xe tends to give people xe really likes (or really dislikes) nicknames and then refuse to call them by any other name – this extends over into places and things on occasion.
Aubrey's very science-oriented, passionate about whatever xe takes an interest in (especially anything having to do with biology and/or mechanics). However, xe's not good with authority, or piddly little rules. Xe prefers to do things xes own way, at xes own pace, and just plain-and-simple will not do busy work.
Aubrey's also paranoid, a bit close-lipped (in the "rattle your head off but carefully not say anything of substance" way) and a bit nervy, constantly checking rooms for cameras, microphones, etc. Xe might be a tad bit actually insane, but not enough to really affect xes daily life in any profound way. Just in the "no, there aren't any microscopic spy-bugs in your soup, calm down and eat it" way.
Then there is the question of xes logic. It's…off. Xe does xes best, but sometimes xe'll come to conclusions that make perfect sense to xem, but absolutely no sense to anyone else. Xe can also come across as a bit sociopathic in extreme cases – for instance, destroying a city suburb to save a rare animal – but usually it comes down to inadvertently hurting others' feelings or making people give xem an o.O face and back away slowly.
